Prototype, Pull Through Process
Pull-through forming is a rapid prototype metal forming process that mirrors production roll forming while significantly reducing tooling investment and development time. Starting from flat sheet or coil, material is pulled through a series of precision Ampco® steel dies that progressively form the profile to its final cross-section. This process enables D&N to produce highly complex geometries in a wide range of materials, including aluminum, mild steel, boron, and advanced high-strength steels.
Ideal for research and development programs, pull-through forming delivers short tooling lead times, lower upfront costs, and critical process validation before committing to full production tooling. With in-house design, machining, tooling, and trial capabilities, D&N can design, build, and validate complex profiles in as little as two weeks. From open channels and closed sections with multiple welding methods to intricate figure-eight profiles, our pull-through forming capabilities set us apart from traditional metal forming companies.
