D&N Bending supports a wide range of materials, including aluminum, brass, copper, martensitic steels, dual-phase steels, carbon steel, titanium, and stainless-steel tubing. Our advanced equipment handles outside diameters from 0.250" up to 6" and everything in between—providing both rapid prototypes and high-volume production.

High-quality tube bending requires more than a single machine. To achieve precise bends, tight radii, and complex multi-bend geometries across various materials, D&N utilizes multiple bending technologies. Each project is matched with the optimal bending method to ensure dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, and repeatable performance.

All tooling is designed and built in-house, giving us full control over quality, lead time, and long-term program support.

Stretch Bending

Stretch Bending

As a vertically integrated manufacturer, D&N seamlessly transitions roll-formed sections and aluminum extrusions into precision stretch-bent components built to your exact specifications.

Stretch bending is a cold-forming process that eliminates the need for heat, making it more energy-efficient while maintaining material integrity. The process applies constant tension to the workpiece as it is stretched and formed over a precision-machined rail. By stretching the material during forming, we counteract internal compression forces—eliminating wrinkles, buckles, and distortion before they occur. This method allows D&N to produce components with single or multiple radii while maintaining tight dimensional control and superior surface quality.

With more than 60 years of experience designing and building stretch bending equipment, D&N supports everything from one-off prototype parts to high-volume programs producing hundreds of thousands of components annually. Our deep process knowledge and in-house equipment design set us apart in delivering complex curved profiles with confidence and consistency.

Pressure Bending

Pressure Bending

Pressure bending shares similarities with stretch bending but differs in one key aspect—there is no material stretching involved. Instead of applying tension, the process uses controlled pressure to form the workpiece over a precision-machined rail.

Like stretch bending, pressure bending is a cold-forming process, eliminating the need for heat while maintaining material integrity and energy efficiency. Because the material is not stretched during forming, pressure bending is often ideal for tube shapes and closed profiles. In contrast, open channel sections are frequently better suited for stretch forming, where controlled tension helps prevent wrinkling and distortion.

By understanding the mechanical behavior of each profile and material, D&N selects the optimal bending process to ensure dimensional accuracy, structural performance, and repeatable quality in both prototype and production applications.
